A Brief History of Black Belt World

The first Black Belt World taekwondo and martial arts school was opened in Raleigh, North Carolina in the U.S.A. under the leadership of Grand Master Jun Lee, in 1986. Six years later, in 1992, Grand Master Tommy Chang established the first Black Belt World school in Downtown Toronto. This first location in Canada serves as the headquarters today for Black Belt World Canada.

Black Belt World Canada has become one of the top taekwondo and martial arts schools throughout Canada. Today, there are schools located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Barrie, Ontario, and several locations within the Greater Toronto Area. The school is one of the most well renowned martial arts and taekwondo schools in the country.

Grand Master Chang has provided personal leadership and training for numerous students, as well as instructors, martial arts school owners, and other Masters over the years. Under his careful leadership, Grand Master Chang has encouraged and supported everyone he has instructed. He has been responsible for them becoming respected leaders within their community and helped them establish a stronghold within the taekwondo and martial arts community.

Throughout Canada, countless Masters and schools have been established and further enhanced by Grand Master Chang’s direction and leadership.
